HEALTH AND SAFETY TRAINING
ABSEN are able to offer comprehensive Health and Safety training delivered by qualified and experienced instructors. The training can take place on the client's site, facilities dependent, or at our dedicated training centre in Ashford, Kent. Both theoretical and, where appropriate, practical training is carried out on the following subjects:
HEIGHT AWARENESS TRAINING.
Aimed at those who have a supervisory role over those who work at height, not necessarily for those who work at height day in and day out (see working at height course). Designed to give a broad brush over working at height issues and procedures in order to increase the manager or supervisors knowledge in this specialist area. Subjects covered include:
- Working at height - legislation.
- Behavioural issues.
- Selection of working at height equipment.
- Procedures.
- The importance of rescue.
- Developing a rescue plan.
WORKING AT HEIGHT.
A 1 day certificated course aimed at those who work at height. Designed to provide a working knowledge of how to remain safe in exposed areas of the workplace whilst still being able to carry out your work effectively. The course also includes practical elements including fitting and inspection of harnesses and operating with various forms of protective equipment. Areas covered include the following:
- Legislation.
- Working procedures.
- Equipment (including use and inspection).
- Work restraint/positioning/fall arrest.
- Basic rescues.
RISK ASSESSMENT.
Designed to explain and practice the risk assessment process. This course covers the theory behind the production of a risk assessment as well giving the attendee practical experience in formulating their own risk assessments in mock situations. Areas covered include the following:
- Legislation.
- Formulating a risk assessment.
- Implementing a risk assessment.
- Practical training in risk assessment.
SITE HAZARDS AND CONTROLS.
A 1 day course designed to give an overview of hazards to be found on a construction site and precautions to be taken to protect against these hazards. The course can be tailored to suit the client; a broad brush of all site hazards through to a more in depth look at specific hazards as required. Areas that can be covered include the following:
- Excavation.
- Confined spaces.
- Demolition.
- Movement of people and vehicles.
- Work equipment.
- Manual and mechanical handling.
- Electrical hazards.
- Fire hazards.
- Chemical and biological.
- Physical and psychological.
