Absen rope access was privileged to have been asked to assist the BBC in filming for Blue Peter. This was prior to the opening of the refurbished Cutty Sark. The Clipper ravaged by fire in 2007 has been lovingly restored at a cost of £50 million and has now been re-opened to the public.
Absen were given the task of assisting Blue Peters Barney Harwood, seen below, and the camera crew in accessing various areas of the ship in a bid to highlight the complex rigging that had been restored just before re-opening.
Neil said “this was an exciting experience, we were asked to act as safety supervision for the team which was an interesting request and very challenging. Everyone had a great day and luckily Barney survived as did Peter the camera man.
Absen have also been involved in filming with Professor Alice Roberts at Quex Park in Kent for the new TV series due to air this winter.
