Latest News from IRATA

The IRATA Executive Committee continue to monitor the impact of containment measures to slow the spread of COVID-19, and have taken further steps which are immediately in effect.

MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS – DELAYED IMPLEMENTATION
To support members whilst they deal with their current operational and strategic challenges, our Executive Committee have decided to delay the implementation date for the new membership standards by 6 months, until the start of next year (1st January 2021). For the sake of good order, members (and new applicants) will not be permitted to undertake an audit to the new Membership Requirements until the revised date. The current audit procedure and checklist [FM-039] will remain in place until then.

MEMBERSHIP APPLICATIONS
Due to the on-going constraints on our audit resources and the current travel restrictions in place, priority will continue to be given to maintaining the certification of our existing members. Therefore, membership application services will remain suspended until further notice.

MEMBERSHIP AUDITS
As an interim measure and in lieu of an audit visit, members have the option for upcoming audits to be undertaken by a remote desktop audit, with the addition of a video interview with the appointed Technical Authority. This option continues to remain available to all members.

Where governmental restrictions have been lifted, members may request a site audit under the usual terms of the IRATA Bye-Laws. This will be at the discretion of the appointed auditor and travel restrictions permitting. Site audits will be subject to precautions to restrict the transmission of COVID-19.

EXTENSIONS TO TECHNICIAN CERTIFICATION
Where extensions to IRATA technician certification has been granted and is due to expire, secondary extensions may be granted for an additional 60 days and can be applied for 30 days prior to the expiry of the primary COVID-19 extension.

Please be assured that our Executive Committee and Senior Management continue to monitor the changing conditions relating to the outbreak of COVID-19 and continue to seek ways to assist our members and technicians throughout these testing times.

Yours sincerely,

Jonathan Capper

IRATA International Chairman
For and on behalf of the IRATA Executive Committee
