Neil set off at 08.05am on Saturday 11th July, completing the first six miles in a little over an hour and the next 15 miles took around three hours, which isn’t bad considering very little in the way of training took place, due to work and family commitments, leading up to the event.
Unfortunately the blisters and an old hip injury, which reared its head early on in the race, causing tremendous pain and discomfort and sadly this meant Neil withdraw from the race at the half way point having successfully completed 31 miles.
Neil said “It was a tough challenge, more so than I had ever imagined, my head and body obviously wasn’t in agreement with each other on this one. This said, I hope to be back with a repaired hip and more prepared ready for a similar challenge next year!
I would like to thank my family and friends for their continued support and to everyone who made a donation to help me exceed my £1,000 target.
